Dry Needling

Dry Needling

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is one of the physiotherapies we offer in our office. Dry needling uses fine needles to help break up myofascial trigger points (painful knots in muscles): tendons, ligaments, or nerves, this stimulates a healing response. Dry needling is not acupuncture or Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM); that is, it does not have the purpose of alternating the (“Qi”) or use meridians. We have a lot of respect for TCM and want our patients to know that although dry needling may feel similar, it is not acupuncture. If you are looking for an acupuncturist, let us know and we can help you with a referral.

Dry needling is rooted in Western Medicine and is a treatment for pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal problems such as neck pain, shoulder impingement, jaw pain, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis or low-back pain.
